New Research & Experimental Treatments

The development of new experimental treatments and research concerning heart diseases is subject of ongoing efforts in research laboratories and clinics around the world. Some of the research might be very close to be routinely implemented; other research might be far from any practical application. Some research is geared towards practical applications such as new minimal invasive surgical methods or new implantable devices (e.g. pacemakers).

Other research may focus on improving diagnostic methods or the use of personal genetic information to assess individual risk profiles. Still, other basic research focuses on topics that are not ready for immediate use but harbor great promises in the future. Specifically, research into the molecular mechanisms of heart disease, including the use of stem cells and gene therapy, holds great promise.
