Heart failure is expected to become the new epidemic of the 21st century. Heart failure has indeed become the leading cause of hospitalization in patients over 65 years of age. Heart failure patients need a cardiologist competent in clinical medicine and pharmacotherapy, but also knowledgeable in cardiac devices and their programming, the imaging of the heart and procedures related to the coronary circulation, as well as the management of patients with end-stage heart failure. To address this unmet educational need, the Zurich Heart House (ZHH) in collaboration with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and its Heart Academy (EHA) has been developing a unique postgraduate course in heart failure (PCHF), a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) certified by the University of Zurich and endorsed by the ESC. PCHF consists of a two-year program with eight modules of 2.5 days each, a total of 160 hours lectures and 140 hours of self-study. Each module is chaired by an internationally recognized expert. Unlike congress, the 2.5 days offer interactive discussions between speakers and participants, practical sessions and life case seminars. The course is based on a practice oriented structure where participants can improve their clinical skills in diagnostic and increase their therapeutic knowledge. Considering the uniqueness of the course, PCHF is one of the most exciting current educational projects in cardiology, made possible thanks to a strategic collaboration between academia, professional organizations and industry partners.
Based on the extremely positive and encouraging feedbacks of the 1st PCHF, it is planned to repropose a 2nd edition of the PCHF over 2 years starting 2016 till 2017.
We are looking forward to receiving your applications and meeting you in Zurich.
